Dentures (sometimes called dental plates), can be defined as a set of artificial teeth, which are used when a patient has lost real teeth on the mandibular arch, the maxillary arch, or both. The word for having no teeth is edentulous and there are any number of reasons why people do not have teeth. It is a myth that dentures are a sign that the person did not brush their teeth. Some have dentures due to an accident or injury, some need dentures because their teeth are weak or poorly formed due to genetic issues, some need dentures because their teeth do not grow in properly, and some need teeth due to malnourishment.
Getting dentures can be such a blessing and should not be seen as a "bad thing" or a failure. Dentures provide support and the ability to chew properly. Dentures allow people to smile again...leaving behind years of hiding their smile. Dentures can definitely be a life-changing experience....a good one!

Will the dentures fall out all the time? - No, No, No! And NO! Dentures are not marbles in your mouth...your dentist will take a great deal of time and effort to ensure that your dentures fit snugly and securely. You can tell your dentist of any uncomfortable rub or feel to the dentures and they will work to fix the dentures for you. I have had dentures for six years now...and not once have they fallen out!

Unlike regular teeth that may crumble, break or cause great pain when chewing meat, dentures are heaven like! No meat stuck in between your teeth...no teeny tiny little bites needed. They're great.
Dentures are expensive...do any dental plans cover them? - Yes! Dentures are expensive, but for the lifetime of relief, they are well worth it. Dentures are not a want...they are a NEED and through affordable dental plans, they are attainable!
